We’ve heard all the ridiculous conspiracy theories before: Flat-Earth, Paul McCartney’s Paul is dead, lizard people, vaccines causing developmental disorders. Redditors shared some of the conspiracy theories that they’ve heard about, some are with enough evidence to back them up but are certainly interesting to read.

That Tobacco Companies Fund Anti-Smoking Ads

From user squeemp: Since tobacco companies have to pay for anti-smoking campaigns, they purposefully make the ads aimed at teenagers dorky as hell so that teens will actually want to smoke to be cool.

I like this one because it seems kinda plausible. A certain ad comes to mind, it had so many outdated memes crammed into it, it seemed like a joke. I’m at work so I can’t link it but I may when I get home.

Your phone’s microphone is listening constantly

From user Seannj222: That your phone’s microphone is constantly “hot” and its listening for keywords to target advertising.

Most glaring instance where this happened to me was when I walked into a colleagues office. He had just gotten a standing desk, but one that goes on top of his existing desk rather than a standalone (pun?) Model. That’s important to note.

I said “Nice standing desk, when did you get that?”. “Thanks, just today.” He replied.

That was literally all that was said about the desk. We talked about work related stuff and as I walked out and checked my phone, there was an ad on Facebook for that EXACT model of standing desk.

I have never owned one, wanted one, or googled one before. Yet there it was on my feed. Tinfoil hat be damned, they listen in.

The Dutroux Affair

From user croimlin: Several young girls go missing in Belgium in the ’90s. Witnesses testify seeing a white van. The investigation leads to an unemployed electrician with criminal history named Marc Dutroux. He was previously let out of prison for sex crimes despite his mother’s insistence that he was very likely to offend again. Despite collecting welfare, he owns several houses. Police set up a camera outside his residence, but for some reason they only record from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. A police officer inspects one of his homes, accompanied by a locksmith. The locksmith says he hears girls yelling, but the officer insists the sounds are coming from outside. Officer does not investigate thoroughly enough to reveal the door to basement dungeon behind some boxes. Finds videotapes as evidence, but police never watch the tapes because they apparently didn’t have a VCR. The tapes show Dutroux constructing the dungeon in his basement. The 2 girls inside died.

Public outrage over police “incompetence” ensues, hundreds of thousands of protestors. When progress on investigation was made, the judge in charge was dismissed and replaced by someone who hindered the case by focusing on dead end leads. Several prominent people involved in the investigation died under suspicious circumstances.

Marc Dutroux was eventually convicted and sentenced to life in prison. He testified that he kidnapped girls to supply a larger organized pedophile network that serviced politicians, influential businessmen, police, and judges in Belgium’s court system. He also claimed that he had a partner who helped source girls from eastern Europe. These claims were never investigated and as far as the authorities were concerned, the case of the missing girls ended with him.

Those are the facts. The conspiracy theory is that the authorities actively sabotaged the investigation to cover up evidence of an elite pedophile network that still operates today.

Reason Why Disney Made Frozen

From user -eDgAR-: The reason Disney came out with a movie called “Frozen” was so that when you Googled “Disney frozen” you would get information about the movie and not websites talking about Walt Disney’s body being frozen. The same goes for “Disney on Ice.”

Diana Ross And Smokey Robinson Are Michael Jackson’s Real Parents

That Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson are Michael Jackson’s actual parents. That’s why he was the talent in the Jackson family and why there were rumors that he was Evan Ross’s father (they both look like Diana). Smokey would’ve been 18 and Diana 14 years old when Michael was born so Berry Gordy arranged to have the kid given to his old boxing buddy and fellow musician from Chicago, Joe Jackson, who he would fund leading to the formation of the Jackson 5. Joe had a big family where Michael would get everything he needs while training him to be an entertainer and Motown could protect their image by taking the child out of the picture.

It turns out the kid is a talent and as we all know the Jackson 5 make it to Motown, but even before that there were several documented instances of Diana Ross in Gary, Indiana such as at the school talent show where the Jackson 5 performed. She has said multiple times on live television that Michael is her baby/child, says she’s doing it all for him, and joked about him playing her son in a future movie. She has also said publically she was in love with Smokey Robinson growing up, living on the same street as him in Detroit, which is odd because he had a girlfriend during that time who he later married. Diana also changed high schools around the time Michael was conceived (when she would have gotten pregnant). She was going to a new school to be a seamstress and Smokey also enrolled in an engineering college around this time, because they were soon to be parents and Motown hadn’t broke big yet. A decade later the Jackson 5 auditioned for Motown in Detroit, then did a second performance at a Motown get-together at Berry’s house, and Michael has stated that at that point Diana told them she wanted to take special interest in their career.

There’s a movie called Double Platinum which stars Diana Ross and is about how she gave up her kid for her career and later reveals to the kid she’s her mother when she sees that the kid has talent, then goes on to help her with her career which would parallel the real life story with Michael. Her daughter in the movie also wears a dress that has the same design as the shirt Michael wore for Billie Jean at Motown 25.

It’s written by Michael in his autobiography Moonwalk that he and the Jacksons lived with Diana Ross in Hollywood Hills when the Jackson 5 first signed to Motown and moved to LA, and she and Michael used to go out almost every day, just the two of them. This would have been when Diana Ross revealed to Michael she’s his mom, he would’ve been about 10 years old and that’s why he became quiet and shy from then on. (This wouldn’t be her only time doing this when she had a daughter with Berry Gordy she didn’t tell her who her father was until she was 13.) Smokey Robinson also stated when he was leaving the Larry King interview shortly after Michael passed away that one of his fondest memories of Michael was when he used to go golfing at the age of 10 or 11 with him and Bobby Taylor, who is said to have discovered the Jackson 5 even though their first album at Motown was presented by Diana Ross.

This was also what Michael meant in the song “Billie Jean” when “this happened much too soon, she called me to her room.” Diana was the one who said “I am the one, but the kid is not my son”. She meant I am your mother but you’re not my son, you’re a Jackson now. Diana Ross is Billie Jean (Diana plays a character called Billie Holiday in ‘Lady Sings the Blues’ which came out a few years before ‘The Wiz’ with MJ). This is also what the song Dirty Diana is about, it’s about Diana Ross the groupie who seduces Smokey Robinson, who she grew up on the same street as, conceiving Michael.

Then there’s the song Who Is It which is about a mystery person who abandoned Michael, and in the music video he holds a card that says ‘Diana’. The song Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ also talks about how “if you can’t feed your baby, then don’t have a baby” and again refers to the mystery Billie Jean character. He references “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” in the song “Leave Me Alone” and says “Don’t you come walkin’ beggin’ back, mama”. He also references “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” in the songs “Baby Be Mine”, “Speechless”, and “Keep The Faith.” This is all also why you see a weird sexual dynamic between Michael Jackson and Diana Ross but you will never actually see a picture or video of them making out.

Recently a video surfaced of Diana Ross singing “You Are Not Alone” to Katherine Jackson; just like how she probably used to sing Ain’t No Mountain High Enough to Michael when he was living with her. This is seen in the aforementioned movie Double Platinum as well, Diana sings her lost daughter to sleep with a famous song. And in TMZ’s video “The Last Time We Saw Joe Jackson” an old senile Joe says “I raised Michael, he’s my son and Quincy Jones knows better. I don’t talk about it, no way.” He’s defending the supposed fact that Michael is his son for a seemingly unknown reason, and even in past interviews he always emphasized “he’s a JACKSON”. After MJ’s death, Joe when interviewed said he was doing great, meanwhile Smokey Robinson went on the Larry King show and praised MJ as an artist.

This theory explains why Michael not only looks like Diana Ross and has the same features and eyes as her, but also explains why his facial structure looks like Smokey’s & their profiles and ears are completely identical, and why he was a musical prodigy who had the stage presence and songwriting abilities of his real parents (Diana, Smokey & Michael are the only three musicians besides the Beatles who have two stars each on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – one for being a member of their respective groups and one to celebrate their success as a solo artist), as well as having a very soft voice which both Smokey and Diana (and Evan Ross!) have in common. Here you can see how much different his eyes looked from his brothers and how much they look like Ross’s eyes.

Now you can see why his personality developed the way it did. It’s why he acted like an orphan and called himself Peter Pan and built Neverland to help disadvantaged kids, why he isolated himself from his family, and could never manage to have a normal relationship with women. It absolutely explains why he had such a severe identity crisis. And it explains why Diana Ross is second to Katherine Jackson in his will regarding who would take care of his children, and why Joe Jackson has been known to dislike Diana Ross. At Michael Jackson’s public memorial the first person that comes out is Smokey Robinson reading a letter from Diana Ross, who writes that she’s mourning so hard that she cannot attend the memorial and that Michael was “part of the fabric of her life”.

When Smokey speaks about MJ later he calls him his little brother, which would imply blood relative. In the movie Hitsville USA: The Making of Motown, Berry Gordy jokes with Smokey about how some of the babies that the groupies were having were his & that MJ reminded him of a little Smokey. Also, the movie An American Dream was about Jackson 5 and would’ve been propaganda to reinforce the coverup story.

So, it wasn’t that Michael was ever trying to look like Diana Ross like people thought, he was actually displaying features and mannerisms that he INHERITED from her. In one of the clips below she says he has the same features, skin tone, and bone structure as her. Now you might say well Janet looks a lot like MJ, but growing up in his shadow she adopted many of his mannerisms and used makeup and plastic surgery to replicate his appearance (like Latoya did) but their vanity was merely a deception. Joe and Berry branded and marketed the Jacksons a certain way to make Michael seem related, such as with the matching outfits and afros, but if you look at their features it’s clear the only similarity to Michael is the way they smile (a learned trait). MJ has much more defined features and is rail-thin like Diana Ross, and his nose & chin match Smokey’s. Now it’s clear why Joe told him he had a fat nose and singled him out so much with the abuse.

NBA Twins Markieff Morris And Marcus Morris Traded Places In The 2017 Playoffs

From user TeamSuperSonics: This one isn’t as serious as most of the ones on here, but I enjoy it and have gotten into many a convo about it.

In the 2017 NBA playoffs a player named Markieff Morris, who at the time played for the Washington Wizards, hurt his ankle in game one. This was only 11minutes into the game and he didn’t return. The injury looked like he would be out for a couple of weeks and no one expected him to play game 2. But, he showed up game 2 and played as if he was never injured, in fact, had his best game statistically of the playoffs to that point.

Here’s where it gets interesting, Markieff Morris has an identical twin brother named Marcus who also plays in the NBA. His brother was playing for the Pistons, who were eliminated from the playoffs already.

The theory is that Marcus played for his brother. Both brothers have the exact same tattoos and don’t have any super apparent different traits.

That Tyrannosaurus Rex Arms On Skeletons Might Be Backwards

The “arms” on Tyrannosaurus Rex skeletons are backward. They ought to be rotated 180 degrees.

What good are these stubby little arms for?

We have found out relatively recently that T-Rex have feathers. It is now an established fact, T-Rex where not covered in scales but in feathers, like a bird.

Take the “arms” on a T-Rex and flip them around 180 degrees. Now you have wings like a ostrich.

Here is an illustration of an ostrich skeleton. See the small “arms?” (wings).

Now look at a Tyrannosaurus,

We used to think of almost all “dinosaurs” as “lizard-like,” in fact the name means “terrible lizard.” Now we know that many different animals that we think of as “dinosaurs” are more bird-like than lizard-like.

Tyrannosaurus Rex had wings. Not big wings to fly with, but wings that were perhaps something like that of an ostrich, cassowary, or emu, although likely much smaller in proportion to their body. Ostriches use their wings in mating rituals, to make themselves appear larger, and to signal and communicate, perhaps T-Rex used theirs for some similar purpose. They did not have a useless stubby little arm.

That Natacha Jiatt was murdered by the Catholic Church

From user valicat: Natacha Jaitt, a model/TV journalist, exposed a pedophile ring on live Argentinian TV a few months ago, after following cases over the last few years.

She had claimed that she would not commit suicide in April of 2018 while investigating these rings but was found on February 23, 2019, to be dead from suicide

Another journalist she had accused of pedophilia on the airing, Luis Ventura, had uploaded an image of her dead body shortly after she killed herself on Twitter, and then promptly deleted it afterward.

another user u/happycakeday1 also shared light on conspiracy: She supposedly died from a cocaine overdose (heart failure/stroke). She had said that if she wound up dead, the people she had accused of rape (she was on trial, and it was powerful people) would be guilty (“I won’t kill myself, I won’t overdose and drown in a bathtub, I won’t shoot myself”).

The Theory That William Shakespeare Never Wrote Any of His Works

From user LifeIsOnTheWire: William Shakespeare never wrote any of the works that have been attributed to him. I don’t think I believe the theory 100%, but the lack of evidence to support him as a writer is amusing.

William Shakespeare was born, lived, and died in a small town, that consisted of not much more than sheep farmers. His father made sheep skin gloves. Certainly not the life that would have contributed to the knowledge of the many royal topics of Shakespeare’s works. Surely the true author of Shakespeare’s works would have had the means to travel, and learn of all the worldly topics that his works were based on.

We do know that he did own the Globe theatre, and that he did work there as an actor.

There is no record of his attendance at any schools.

He was raised in an illiterate household, both of his parents signed all legal documents with a mark (a sign of illiteracy).

There are 6 surviving signatures of Shakespeare, all of them look as if a 4 year old wrote them. They were all most assuredly written by an illiterate person. All of the signatures were found on documents such as a mortgage contract, and his will.

There are no surviving original written literary works written by Shakespeare. There are no surviving personal letters written by him. Surely a letter written from Shakespeare would be coveted as a prized possession, surely destined to survive to the present day. (Mozart’s handwritten letters professing his desire to poop on his cousin’s face have survived to this present day, but not a single letter written by William Shakespeare).

The only surviving written documents, written in his hand, were his Will, and few other small pieces. All pieces of his writing that have been found were all written in ‘secretary hand’, a very basic form of writing, typically used by poorly educated people.

There are no surviving official documents that recall him as being a writer in any way. All official documents state that he was a businessman, and a real estate owner.

Shakespeare’s will made no mention of any assets related to writings, books, or anything of that nature.

All these facts paint a picture of a scenario where someone paid William Shakespeare to use him as a pseudonym for their own writings, and perhaps used his position as the owner of a theatre as their own personal venue.

The best theory about the true authorship was Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. He was well known to be a gifted poet, and playwright. He was also known to sponsor companies of actors, and he was a patron of some of the most well known theatres. Oxford would not have been at liberty to write about the topics found in Shakespeare’s works.

The only compelling evidence that I’ve heard from Shakespeare supporters are anecdotes written years after his death, by people who knew Shakespeare, and referring to him as a writer. I don’t find this compelling at all. If Shakespeare made an arrangement to act as the author of someone else’s works, surely such an arrangement would require Shakespeare lie to everyone. I’m certain that all his friends “thought” he was a writer.

Facebook is purposely ruining people’s relationship

From user jahvidsanders44: Facebook purposely attempts to ruin peoples’ relationships because the drama gets more views and more views sell more ads. Several years ago they introduced a feature so that your comments on other pages would show up in your friends’ feeds. So if you’re secretly an atheist and you comment on some atheist page, it shows up in your devout Southern Baptist Grandma Muriel’s timeline, even though it’s a conversation that has nothing to do with her and there’s no reason for it to be. As a result, Facebook “outs” you to your family, and Grandma is typing away at all the evil Satanists trying to corrupt her grandson. And if you comment on a public post, it’s unavoidable. You used to be able to control who could see your comments even on public posts by other pages, but at the same time Facebook introduced their “tattletale” feature, they took that ability away. Now if they were to stumble across the same page they’d be able to see your comment, but after that change, Facebook started pointing everybody you know directly to it. Not to mention, the privacy settings are difficult to find, difficult to understand, and with each passing year gives you less and less control over who sees what.

By forcibly combining everybody’s social circles, Facebook is trying to generate conflict. They want to generate conflict because the conflict happens on Facebook, which means people logging on to Facebook more often and seeing more ads. They’re essentially an internet tabloid except instead of showcasing the personal drama of celebrities for clicks and sales, they’re doing it to you instead. Ever notice how the vast majority of family drama, relationship fights, etc. these days happens on Facebook? That’s by design. Facebook is literally destroying the social fabric to make a buck. Consuming relationship stability like it’s an oil refinery consuming crude.

Miley Cyrus Crazy Streak Was Planned

Google Maps only asks for feedback when it does a Good Job

From user slinky317: Google Maps only asks you for feedback on its navigation when it knows it did a good job.

I use navigation all the time, and I find that when it gets me to the destination on time or earlier than predicted, I get a notification asking to rate the trip. But if it gets me thereafter it originally estimated, I never get that notification.

That Chairman of Church of Scientology Murdered his Wife

From user SMELLYJELLY72: David Miscavige, the chairman of the Church of Scientology definitely murdered his wife and is getting off scot-free for it. He and his wife got into a pretty heated argument in 2007, and she hasn’t been seen since. Lawyers hired by David claim she is still alive and devotes 100% of her time to work at the church of Scientology, which is why she hasn’t been seen since August 2007. In 2013, a former member of the church had filed a missing person report that was closed after a few officers had “spoken and seen Mrs.Miscavige”, even though there’s no evidence whatsoever of this meeting. All missing person’s reports now are turned down since this investigation is forever closed.

Number of millionaire psychopaths

From user Ungreat: With the number of millionaire/billionaires that are psychopaths or similar, there must be a few super-rich serial killers out there.

By extension there must be people making money supplying victims in the same way Epstein was supplying girls to the wealthy who wanted to scratch an itch. With the money, power and influence would come governments and intelligence agencies willing to overlook or cover up terrible actions for leverage.

New Coke was used by Coco-Cola To Switch To Corn Syrup

From user UndividedIndecision: New Coke was a way for Coca Cola to switch from real sugar to corn syrup without people noticing.

Switch to the new formula that everyone hates, keep it for a while so that people demand the old one back, then switch it back after enough time has passed that people wouldn’t notice the relatively subtle change.

Bad Conspiracy Theories Are Intentionally Spread To Test Users’ Gullibility

From user Charyou-Tree: I’m starting to think that the really stupid conspiracy theories (vaccines causing autism, flat earth, lizard people, etc.) are intentionally spread by propaganda groups and troll farms. They don’t care what stupid shit you believe, but they are very interested to know that you’re a gullible mark who will believe anything with no evidence, and won’t do research with authorities on the matter to find the truth. If you want to spread misinformation, look for the people who do it as a hobby.

Why not pockets for women

From user tiefling_sorceress: The fashion industry makes too much money from purses to care about making pockets for women easily available.

Fentanyl Is Being Laced In Drugs By The US Government

From a former user: Recently in the US, there have been reports everywhere that the opioid Fentanyl is being found in all sorts of illicit drugs. For those of you who don’t know, fentanyl has an extremely low overdose threshold, and mixing drugs lowers that threshold further. Within a few years this substance has gone from being almost unheard of to being everywhere. So why has there been such an explosion in its use and availability?

In these same few years the criticisms of the drug war policies have grown and marijuana legalization has gained traction, in one form or another, in over half the states. Some of the supposed negative effects of drug use have been exposed as exaggerations or lies. There has been a call to treat the issue as more of a civil issue, rather than a criminal one. The government has done much to demonize drug use, and the stigma is fading.

To combat the growing support for reform, some faction in the federal government is adding fentanyl to drug supply. They want to make drug use seem that much more dangerous, that they’re willing to intentionally overdose people. They’ve dpne it before, when they poisoned alcohol during our first failed prohibition era. The CIA and DEA have both been accused of drug smuggling, for profit or power. Many enforcement agencies would be significantly downsized if we stopped funding the war on drugs.

So there you have a motive, opportunity, and a history. In the court of law, that’s enough to launch an investigation.

Mick Jagger Is A Puppet Of The Recording Industry

From user Alexhasskills: What ‘the authorities’ say: Mick Jagger is simply an iconic rock and roll star and nothing more.

The song “Tik Tok,” as performed by Ke$ha, was written by a guy named Benny Blanco. Its lyrics include the line “We kick them to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger.”

That’s a little bit strange, right? Mick Jagger wasn’t exactly at the height of his attractiveness when the piece in question came out. Stranger still, it wasn’t the only popular song to paint the man in a pleasant light: “Moves Like Jagger,” performed by Maroon 5, was released at around the same time, and Benny Blanco also had a hand in writing that one. This is where things start to get creepy.

The song “The Time (Dirty Bit),” as performed by the Black Eyed Peas, features the following phrase: “All these girls, they like my swagger, they calling me Mick Jagger, I be rolling like a Stone.” It was written by John DeNicola, who used to produce the music for a band called Kara’s Flowers… although you might know them better by their current name of Maroon 5. The song “Heart and Soul,” as performed by The Jonas Brothers, contains a verse that ends with “Making mistakes, but that won’t matter, if you can swag like old Mick Jagger.” Antonina Armato wrote the piece, and she is managed by Downtown Music Publishing. Care to guess who else they manage? (Here’s a hint: It rhymes with “balloon hive.”)

This web of connections extends all throughout the recording industry, but one thing remains unclear: What’s the link back to Mick Jagger himself? There must be something, because if you have a look at Google Trends, you’ll see that his popularity spiked with the release of each song. The only time in recent memory when it has been higher is during a period in March of 2014, when his girlfriend died. Some people have suggested that the man’s name is just easy to rhyme with “swagger,” but popular usage of the word (in reference to something other than a walking gait) came about after the aforementioned songs had hit the airwaves.

In other words, “Jagger” prompted “swagger,” not the other way around.

Why does there seem to be a cabal of artists trying to artificially inflate the performer’s appeal and popularity? What benefit is there in promoting an aging rock star? Who is actually behind this odd trend?

In order to answer those questions, we need to turn to Vivendi. This is a company which owns a lot of stuff. Their subsidiaries include DailyMotion, UbiSoft, GameLoft… and the Universal Music Group. The Rolling Stones signed to Universal Music in 2008. In 2010, all of the songs listed above were released. Look at those Google trends again. 2008 marked Mick Jagger’s lowest ever dip in popularity, and the slump continued until February of 2010 (right after “Tik Tok” became the most popular song on the radio). In September of that same year, The Rolling Stones re-released their rare concert movie, securing the number one spot on four different countries’ charts – the US and the UK being two of them – second place on four more, and a Double Platinum certification in Canada.

Strangely enough, though, the only other place (besides the United States) where Platinum status was achieved was in France… which is where Vivendi is located.

What if all of this was carefully planned and executed?

What if there’s a shadowy organization that’s intent on promoting Mick Jagger for their own profit?

Titanic drowned but not the original one

From users /u/BreizhMac: The Titanic/Olympic conspiracy. It has credibility because there is photographic evidence. It’s really one of the only conspiracy theories I put much belief in.

The sister ships (and their third counterpart, the Britannic) were owned by White Star Line. The Olympic was put into service in June, 1911. She collided with another ship, the HMS Hawke, in September of 1911 and both ships were badly damaged. The accident was a financial disaster for White Star Line, as they were found to be liable for the accident and had to pay for the damages to both ships and legal fees for court cases associated with the accident. Repairs on the Olympic took nearly two months and parts intended for the Titanic, which was still being built during this time, had to be given to the Olympic instead. Only a few weeks after being returned to service, the Olympic suffered another minor incident where one of the propellers broke off and pieces intended for the Titanic were once again cannibalized.

At this point, the Olympic was looking like more and more of a money-drain for the White Star Line, though its achievement in not actually sinking despite a major accident that should have sunk it cemented the Olympic-class liner’s reputation as “unsinkable”, but I’ll get back to that in a moment.

The Titanic was finally finished and ready to leave port on her maiden voyage on April 10, 1912, having been delayed while new parts were made and delivered to replace the ones needed for the Olympic, and from there we all know the story. She went first to France, and then to Ireland, and then began her trek across the Atlantic to New York, during which she struck an iceberg and after nearly two hours, sank, taking 1,500 souls with her to a cold, watery grave that would not be seen again by human eyes for nearly a hundred years.

The Olympic went on to have a 24-year career as a successful ocean liner. She served during World War 1 where she earned the nickname Old Reliable for her impenetrable hull, and then in 1919 she was re-outfitted to be a civilian passenger ship and served as an ocean liner until 1935, when she was retired from the fleet. Her ownership changed hands several times and she was eventually dismantled and sold for scrap metal.

But what if it wasn’t the Titanic that sank? What if it was actually the Olympic? What if it was a ploy to remove a faulty ship that was costing them more money than she was bringing in for White Star Line and cash in on her million-pound insurance policy?

So here is the conspiracy theory. At some point after the Titanic was completed, they switched the identities of the ships. The new “Titanic” was actually the Olympic and the “Olympic” was actually the brand-spanking-new Titanic, fresh from the construction yard with zero problems and zero history. They intended for the “Titanic” to suffer some sort of failure that would result in the destruction of the problem ship so they could collect the insurance money. I doubt they intended to also cause the deaths of 1,500 people; the events that transpired which led to the sinking of the “Titanic” possibly happened purely by chance and the iceberg wasn’t part of their plan (i.e., they didn’t hire the captain to specifically ram the iceberg to sink the ship or anything like that). They probably had another plan involving the repairs that had already been made on the ship when it collided with the HMS Hawke.

In any case, it wasn’t really the Titanic that left port on April 10, 1912 — it was the Olympic.

After the sinking of the “Titanic,” White Star Line received a tidy sum of £1,000,000 in insurance money (or £89,289,575 in today’s money). This, of course, ruined the insurer, Lloyd’s of London. There’s an additional conspiracy theory that American financier and banker J. P. Morgan was in on this whole scheme; his company, J. P. Morgan & Co., financed the International Mercantile Marine Company in the hopes of becoming rich off of sea travel, but this turned out to be a bad investment because of the unpredictable nature of sea travel and travelers themselves. J. P. Morgan or one of his associates may have schemed with White Star Line, who was a subsidiary of this IMMC, in order to bankrupt the IMMC and allow J. P. Morgan & Co. to withdraw from the IMMC without breaking a contract. I cannot provide evidence for this beyond speculation.

However, I can provide evidence that backs up my claim that the two ships were switched and it was the Olympic who sank, not the Titanic.

This is an image of the RMS Olympic in drydock.

Check out the very top row of portholes in the white railing. Count them. Look closely at the grouping of the last five portholes and how they are clustered with two close together, one set apart, and two more close together.

This is an image of the RMS Titanic being built.

Look at the top-most portholes in the railing on the Titanic. Count them too. Look at the last five portholes and see that they are evenly spaced apart.

This is a picture of the “Titanic” before leaving on its maiden voyage. Check out the portholes in question.

Here is the “Olympic” in New York after the sinking of the “Titanic.”

There is no reason why the ship builders would have changed the portholes on the Titanic when they were nearly done building it. That piece was not one of the pieces cannibalized from the Titanic to repair the Olympic that would have needed to be replaced by a different piece. The only answer is that the ship in the final picture, which is the ship that left port on April 10, 1912, and was met with a terrible fate near Newfoundland, was not the Titanic, but actually the Olympic. You can find pictures from newspapers further supporting this, as they clearly show the name of the ship and the wrong number/orientation of portholes.

I doubt we’ll ever know one way or another, since the wreck at the bottom of the Atlantic is quickly being covered with sediment and will be completely buried and inaccessible soon and pieces of the ship that was retired in 1935 and dismantled in 1937 are both difficult to find and difficult to authenticate, and anybody who might be able to either confirm or deny this theory are all dead.
