A 24-year-old woman was horrifically killed after she was lured to a fake baby shower held in order to steal her unborn baby.

Brazilian woman, Flávia Godinho Mafra was 36 weeks pregnant when her unborn baby was cut from her body after she was lured to a fake baby shower by an old school friend.

Flávia Godinho Mafra was 36 weeks pregnant when her body was found by her husband.

The autopsy showed that 24-year-old Flávia Godinho Mafra died from cuts to her abdomen and injuries caused by a brick, NSC Total, a local news outlet reports.

According to the report Flávia – a substitute teacher who was always willing to help people – she was murdered by a friend who “intended to steal a baby” after luring her to a “fake baby shower.”

The baby – Cecilia – was later found by police after being taken to hospital by the suspect and her husband who were arrested at the scene.

Cecilia had cuts on her back, which rose suspicions as the woman who was claiming the baby to be hers had no physical signs of having given birth.

According to a police report cited by the news outlet “Flávia disappeared on Thursday afternoon when she left for the supposed baby shower that would take place in São João Batista.”

The suspect also told two Flávia’s friend but later told the day that the event had been canceled, the report added.

Concern for Flávia’ were raised when she did not return from the baby shower and her family members realized that she had last checked her WhatsApp messages at 3:48 PM.

Her school friend who invited her to a baby shower claimed that the missing mom-to-be had “left with someone else” but when Flávia’s body was found, she “confessed” to the brutal crime.

Flávia was working as a substitute teacher before COVID-19 but had diabetes which put her at risk during the global pandemic, preventing her from working in recent months, she also worked at a stationery store.

“She continued to lie to everyone that she was still pregnant,” a police spokesman said, news.com.au reported.

She told the investigators that she had suffered a miscarriage in January and since that she had become obsessed with stealing a child, so she decided to steal her old friend’s child.

After they took her to an abandoned area, they hit her with a brick when she turned her back. and then they cut her belly to remove the child.

Cecilia still remains in the hospital where she is receiving antibiotics for her injuries.

The suspects reportedly dumped Flávia’s body in an abandoned pottery yard, her body was found by her husband and mother on August 28.

However, it is still not clear that whether she had already been murdered when the baby was stolen from her body.
